Presents For Boys

My son’s birthday is in a few months so I started shopping for him. I decided I might as well do a gift guide. Once his age group was done, I branched out and created one for each age. It has been difficult, but also a lot of fun figuring out the best presents for boys.

The great thing about boys of any age is they almost certainly like electronics, weird yucky stuff, Legos, and anything with projectiles. Those are generalizations, of course, but if you don’t know a kid very well those are good things to start with.

If you are shopping for your son, you probably have a good idea of the kinds of gifts to start looking at. If not, think about how he spends his time. Does he play video games all of the time, does he like to read books, or play music? Thinking about his hobbies are great ways to come up with possible gifts. Check my list of Presents for Boys for inspiration.

It is important when purchasing a gift to keep the age appropriateness of the gift in mind. Most toys, electronics, and hobby materials are rated for a certain age group. These are great guidelines, but they don’t have to be strictly followed. It depends on the item and the kid. If it is your kid you should have an idea of his abilities and maturity level. If you are shopping for a nephew or other boy in your life then I recommend going by the manufacturer’s suggested age.

One time you should always abide by age guidelines is for children 3 and under. Children that age put everything into their mouths, and certain toys are made specifically for them. Avoid toys for this age group that list choking hazard warnings on them.
