Sunscreen Woes

It would be great to write a post with reviews of different sunscreens for kids. Unfortunately, applying sunscreen to an unwilling child is one of the worst things about summer. We bought some Banana Boat, the kids hate it, but it seems to work. I use it too, but not on my face. I have found Oil of Olay Complete with sunscreen/moisturizer to work really well. There, that is my review :)

Besides sunscreen, I am trying to get my kids to wear hats. My daughter used to do this pretty easily, but now she won't. My son just takes them right off. I decided I really need to find a hat I like to wear every day. Lead by example, right?

Custom Brave and Princess Merida Postage

I have Princess Merida on my mind today! My four year old keeps seeing commercials for Brave and the websites I am visiting on the computer. Her birthday is later this summer and I am itching to plan a Princess Merida birthday party. I have a feeling that isn't going to work out. She is much more into Cinderella and Snow White at the moment.

Since I've been looking around at available Merida party supplies, I created another page about it on my main site. You can check out Plan a Disney Princess Merida Birthday Party for more information.

In my quest for great party supplies I found a huge selection of custom Brave and Princess Merida postage stamps. I love custom postage stamps. They are a bit pricey, but I think for weddings and parties they add a very special touch. Check out my favorite Brave custom postage below.

There are more custom stamp options available, but these are my favorites. Several feature the different Scottish lords, or other views of the horse Angus, Merida, or her family. If you are planning a Disney Princess Merida birthday party, consider using custom stamps to jazz up the invitations.

Toys From The Movie Brave

The new Disney/Pixar movie Brave has just come out in the theaters. I can't wait to see it! Due to childcare issues it probably won't be until next week. My little girl wants to see it, but I want to preview it first. It is rated PG for scary situations and rude humor. I imagine both things will make it even more appealing to some kids!

As usual, Disney has done a great job with its merchandise. I checked out all the available Disney Princess Merida and Brave toys at my local stores. There is a great selection available, but there are even more online. Disney Princess items are always a huge hit with girls. I know some of these toys will appeal to boys as well, especially the bear brothers. Personally, I love the transforming bear brothers set the most, but the mini doll play sets look great too. My 4 year old loves those mini dolls!

Archery For Beginners

Archery for beginners has become a hot topic. Thanks to the popularity of The Hunger Games movie, kids have become really interested in bows and arrow sets. For some it may be a passing interest, but it is likely that many kids will find a sport that they love. I took archery in high school and I absolutely loved it.

Another reason people are searching for bow and arrow for kids, is for costume purposes. Dressing up as Katniss promises to be popular this Halloween. Besides The Hunger Games, a new movie called Brave is coming out soon from Disney Pixar.

Brave the movie is an animated film from Pixar with a strong female heroine. Princess Merida is the bow wielding heroine that must go on a bold quest. There are Merida costumes available already, and some people will want bow and arrow sets to go along with costumes. They are a great accessory as long as it is age appropriate for the child. There are plenty of toy bow and arrow sets available too, like these!

New Lalaloopsy Littles for 2012

Three new Lalaloopsy Littles were recently announced. They are not available on Amazon yet for sale, but they may be available in local stores. I was able to find some information on them.

Blanket Featherbed is the younger sister of Pillow Featherbed. As her name suggests, she is wearing her nighttime clothes. She likes to play late, she snores a lot, and has a cute little lamb as a pet.

Stumbles Bumps N Bruises is the younger sister of Rosy Bumps N Bruises. Like her sister, she was sewn from a nurse's uniform. She has a little stuffed bear pet. He is covered in bandages, probably from her "doctoring". Stumbles has also been listed as Stumbles Scrapes N Bruises, but Bumps is correct.

The last one is named Twinkle N Flutters. Her older sister is Pix E Flutters. Twinkle is a happy doll that loves to laugh. She was sewn from a fairy's dress, so she is magical herself. Her pet is a firefly.

I am so glad they have added to the Lalaloopsy Littles collection. It is a great idea to have little sisters for the dolls. They are a little smaller than the original Lalaloopsy dolls too, so smaller children might identify more with them.
