Presents For Boys

My son’s birthday is in a few months so I started shopping for him. I decided I might as well do a gift guide. Once his age group was done, I branched out and created one for each age. It has been difficult, but also a lot of fun figuring out the best presents for boys.

The great thing about boys of any age is they almost certainly like electronics, weird yucky stuff, Legos, and anything with projectiles. Those are generalizations, of course, but if you don’t know a kid very well those are good things to start with.

If you are shopping for your son, you probably have a good idea of the kinds of gifts to start looking at. If not, think about how he spends his time. Does he play video games all of the time, does he like to read books, or play music? Thinking about his hobbies are great ways to come up with possible gifts. Check my list of Presents for Boys for inspiration.

It is important when purchasing a gift to keep the age appropriateness of the gift in mind. Most toys, electronics, and hobby materials are rated for a certain age group. These are great guidelines, but they don’t have to be strictly followed. It depends on the item and the kid. If it is your kid you should have an idea of his abilities and maturity level. If you are shopping for a nephew or other boy in your life then I recommend going by the manufacturer’s suggested age.

One time you should always abide by age guidelines is for children 3 and under. Children that age put everything into their mouths, and certain toys are made specifically for them. Avoid toys for this age group that list choking hazard warnings on them.

Looking for New Ideas

I am searching for new products to review and add to my blogs. If there are any suggestions for future topics, please let me know. I want products or services that would be used by kids from babies to teenagers.

Specifically, I want to work on some "Top 5" types of articles. Top 5 Play Drums for instances. Then I would research the best selling drums, write up the items, and then post them to Squidoo and also here.

I will not be shy about saying I am trying to drive traffice to Squidoo. I am trying to learn how to make money there. So far I have earned something for every month I've been there, but it has been very, very little.

I am also interested in new topics. I recently discovered sticker bombing and wrote this page about sticker bomb book deals. I've seen the results of sticker bombing around town and on people's cars, but not to a huge extent. I live in a pretty small town.

I thought back to times I have spent in San Francisco and New York City and I can remember seeing stickers everywhere. I never thought much about it because it was part of the landscape. It was interesting learning more about and some of the stickers have great art or a cool message. Some of them are a bit vulgar for me, too. It is one of those things I would have to pick and choose what I like.

Jigsaw Puzzles | Wooden Puzzles | Melissa and Doug Puzzles

Melissa and Doug Puzzles make great gifts for any holiday or birthday. They are excellent for teaching children letters, numbers, and other important concepts. Of course, they are just plain fun too. I first reviewed Melissa and Doug last November. Since then I've made a lot of updates to my main page.

Recent studies from the University of Chicago show that children that play with puzzles between ages 2 and 3 tend to do better than non-puzzle playing peers on spatial tests later. An aptitude with spatial skills give kids an advantage when learning any kind of mathematical or engineering pursuits.

Consider buying puzzles for your children, or any children you need to buy gifts for. They are great for Easter, Christmas, birthdays, or any other holiday.
